Sao Paulo Fashion Week has a new location for the next event

The mystery around the new venue of Sao Paulo Fashion Week came to an end. It leaves Ibirapuera Park, but remains close to nature. The new space is the Mirante, inside Parque Villa Lobos, which will host the event between October 29th and November 1st. This year, SPFW lost its traditional venue, the Bienal Pavilion in Ibirapuera, because with the Brazilian fashion calendar changes, the fashion week in Sao Paulo ended up on the same date of Sao Paulo Biennial of Art.

The multimedia artist Felipe Morozini was inspired by the glasshouses to create the scenario of this edition. The biggest difference is the possibility of presenting their collections in other platforms, such as photo and video display.

Brazilian brand bets on jeans with unique technology

Always attentive to innovations, the Brazilian brand Espaço Fashion has partnered with one of the largest producers of textiles in the world, Vicunha. The Brazilian company is a national leader in the production of indigo and denim. The alliance between the companies aims to create jeans with a super exclusive technology.

Some denim shorts highlight neon hues, besides tacks and spikes. As for the washed-out vest, it features fluorescent silicone stripes. These models were manufactured withthe Premium stretch indigo Marina Dark (10.3 oz), from Vicunha. Another function for the fabric is the possibility of achieving different hues in one piece, from a very dark portion to the clearest detail, giving an urban effect to the models. This variation occurs  due to the versatility of Vicunha’s laundry, which can take in their clothes each intensity of a single color.

Design conquers space in Capital Fashion Week

For the first time in eight years of existence, the Capital Fashion Week opens a special space for the design. Students at the University of Brasilia have built tables, shelves, trays and boxes which were produced with ecological wood to be exposed in the event. Whereas the children have got a fashion workshop. On site, they can produce accessories and pieces made with recycled material, besides knowing a little more about the fashion production.

Capital Fashion Week: Third Day

Lubia Duca

The collection “Delirios Tropicais de uma Sereia (Delusions of a Tropical Mermaid)” tells the story of a fisherman who, on a full moon night, captures a mystical creature in his net. The pieces were inspired on the shape of the shells. Among the materials are noble elements, such as embroidery and precious stones, and even fishing nets.

Rafael Siqueira

The designer presented 12 female models in his collection “Pinturas Nordestinas (Northeastern Paintings)”. The pieces are fair and filled with many embossed patterns, inspired on the primitive artists in the Northeast region of Brazil. Among the materials used were crystal organza and lace.

AUA

AUA has presented its first fashion show outside of Belo Horizonte. The brand was inspired by the culture of Brazilian Indians to build simple pieces with graphic printing. As for fabrics, natural fibers: linen and cotton.

O.sorio para Princesas

The designer Anna Paula Osorio had an old dream of creating a line made especially for girls. The collection was developed from the sensations experienced by Anna Luisa, Osorio’s five-year-old daughter. The pieces try to convey that all girls are princesses, with dresses that value the lightness of childhood and help children have comfort while having some fun. The color palette has favored black and pink and, to complete the look: accessories, plenty of them!

Eliana Murargy

With the collection “Gold Dust”, a modern and sophisticated woman, who values comfort and practicality is presented. The pieces blended different materials, from light and loose fabric to the use of applications in metal. The preference is for shades of sand and ochre.

Fernanda Ferrugem

In the collection “Novos Praianos (New Beach)”, the pieces appeared more commercial, but without forgetting the artistic concept which is so typical of the designer. The straighter and dry modeling appeared as a reference to major urban centers. The beach and the summer are the central theme of the collection. Thus, the color palette is vibrant.

Capital Fashion Week: day two

Hudson Lucas

The second day of the fashion show has opened with the collection “Os Filhos das Estrelas (Children of the Stars)”. The designer used natural fibers to mimic leather. Even with the heavy material, the pieces presented fluid drape. The colors chosen were yellow and shades of gray.

Luciana Machado

She got her inspiration in joyful and magical sensations to create the atmosphere of the circus in her collection. The pieces were handmade to create the personal identity of the pieces, in addition to providing a sustainable fashion that enhances the Brazilian culture.

Matohu

The Japanese brand has prepared a special show: presented a collection inspired by Japanese fashion, with current minimalistic style and honoring the craft shapes made in the country. The main features of the pieces were the unisex, asymmetric and wide shapes. For the color chart: purple, orange, yellow, blue and black.

The opening fashion show was under the responsibility of Anna Paula Osorio. The presentation of the brand was dedicated to men. The pieces appeared with minimalist combinations, such as bermuda shorts with shirts, overalls, vests and sports jackets.

Whereas the brand Confraria presented a range of pieces from bold models, such as bikinis made with jelly beans, to structured pieces. The color chart favored the goodies with sweet shades and candy colors. As accessories, there are the patterned and plain handbags and clutches, but always very colorful.

The first day was also marked by awards. Changes in Brazilian fashion schedule will be valid for upcoming seasons

Changes in Brazilian fashion schedule are being announced since the beginning of this year, but will only be implemented for next semester. Shows for A/W 2013 Sao Paulo Fashion Week will take place between October 29th and 31st, and Fashion Rio in November 7th till 9th. Events will be shortened to only 3 days each. The traditional system, however, with five or six days of shows, will return in upcoming seasons, during March and October/2013.

Sao Paulo Fashion Week will also change to a new venue, not yet disclosed. As its will clash with 2012 Arts Biennial, which is also held at the Biennial Foundation’s building at the Ibirapuera Park, organizers will have to seek another space for the shows.

Minas Gerais state fashion week, known as “Minas Trend Preview”, also has a defined date. It will occur from November 20th to 23rd. As such, this event will now take place shortly after the fashion weeks of the Rio de Janeiro / Sao Paulo states, doing away with its main feature: setting trends.

According to Luminosidade, a company that manages both Fashion Rio and SPFW, setting a larger gap between the collection’s launch and arrival at the retailers helps to adjust fashion schedule to international events that Brazil will be hosting.

Adriana Degreas signs a partnership with Trussardi during Sao Paulo Fashion Week

The fashion designer Adriana Degreas and the home textiles brand Trussardi established an partnership during Sao Paulo Fashion Week 2013: mixing fashion with the bed linen, dining and bath segment. With the theme “Bay of all Saints”, the designer collection was inspired by the life and beauty of the slaves in Brazil during the nineteenth century.

The soft touch of Trussardi cotton used in the collection represents the moments of intimacy and sensuality between the slaves and their sugar mill lords. To create the atmosphere of seduction, the designer created fresh forms with the “Marguerita” line of layette. She applied embroideries of flowers and used the fabric to create light and natural dresses. Piquet cotton, traditionally used in quilts, appears in the collection, to structure bulges in swimsuits and bikinis.

The combined company gave rise to the desire of the designer to create models made with pure cotton fabric, simple pieces, yet stylish and sophisticated.
