Financial Times and Be talk about the swimwear from Rio de Janeiro

Brazilians bikinis and swimsuits have won international market space by being bold and creative, high quality, besides having modeling that values the feminine beauty.

The British newspaper Financial Times in July, and the French magazine Be in August, made special stories on the sector. The texts emphasize that, in Brazil, the pieces are produced with the same concern that the usual urban manufacturing. They have style, excellent material and textile technology.

For the trend expert Jorge Grimberg, interviewed by the London Daily, swimwear have a key role in the built of Brazilian fashion. Proof of this is that more than half of almost 60 participating brands of two major national fashion weeks include at least one piece that can be used on the beach or on its surroundings.

This shows that swimwear is more than a segment, it is already incorporated into the culture of the country, being the extension of coastal towns. “The beach is the place to see and be seen“,  says Lilian Kaddissi, marketing manager of Texbrasil (Brazilian Fashion Industry Export Program), in an interview given to Be.

In addition to assert its own style, Brazilian swimwear pieces also incorporate sports fashion. The shorts appear both in traditional designs done in knitting, as inspired by the design used by skateboarders and surfer: swimming trunks made of smart fabric at knee height.

For women’s fashion, the national and international favorite is the bikini with its top in a triangular shape. Whereas the thong model is a “thing of the past”. In the 21st century, the pieces have become bigger and much more comfortable.
